Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi, Book 2 (OMEN)

Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi, Book 2 (OMEN)

The story picks up where the other one left. Which is exactly when Luke Skywalker, the leader of the Jedi, was exiled in order to find out why some Jedi have been going crazy. Among this journey for a cure he is joined by his son Ben. Their journey is filled with some good dialogue, encounters with forgotten species, space trouble overall. But most importantly these events lead to the father-son moments which are amazingly written, Christie Golden was able to surprise pleasantly once again.

That is the major story line the other ones are minor but just as interesting, no exceptions. I am going to go through them really quickly so that you can get the general idea of what is going on in the Star Wars universe at the time of the book.

The Sith are on the other side of the galaxy, unaware that the Jedi are ruling the bigger part of the world. All that unawareness comes to an end when an ancient sphere (ship) comes down and tells them the situation in the galaxy. It also turns out that this sphere is designed to train Sith to their full potential, however it communicates with whoever it wants and so a new messiah is born.

Han and Leia decide it is finally time to get their siblings some pets. And so they go to the Zoo to choose a suitable animal for them. However complications occur such as attempts of murder.
The other plot lines are political conflicts which somehow were also interesting... and not really memorable, so that alone speaks for itself. Interesting yet somehow forgetable.

The writing it self is smart and really funny when it wants to be. The book carries the Star Wars atmosphere that we all love. It is all well-paced but that might be due to one of the major flaws of the book, but more of that later.

I said the positives, but lets focus on the negatives now. The book is extremely short. Only 276 pages. The other problem is imagining all of the alien races. The book also ends on a huge cliffhanger, but that is to be expected considering the fact that it is an on-going series.

In conclusion the book is extremely fun and easy to read. Despite it being short I enjoyed every page of it. It also has atmosphere and an extremely well placed sense of humor. My recommendation is that you should read the book if you are a Star Wars fan, or a sci-fi fan in general.
P.S. 8/10
